Rhubarb Days:
Leola is known as the "Rhubarb Capital of the World" and
therefore the town holds a bi-annual festival to celebrate
this interesting fruit. Events during this festival include
crowning the new "Rhubarb Queen." This festval also
offers a variety of rhubarb cuisine and activities and events
that are enjoyable for the entire family. This year's festival
will take place June 2nd, 2007.
Threshing Bee:
Held in September each year, the Leola Thresing Bee honors
our forefathers' way of living by using the antique equipment they used.
Antique threshing machines were used to thrash crops and a live demonstration is
given during the day. There is also an antique tractor show and many crafts are sold.
This is a huge hit with the all generations of the community.
Quasquicentennial:
Leola will be celebrating 125 years in July 2009. An All-School Reunion will
also be celebrated during this fun-filled event. Many activities and events
are being planned to help celebrate the quasiquicentennial. The event schedule will be
posted as soon as plans have been finalized. Plan on attending!
